CaddyShack

1980
Orion Pictures
R

A Roman Catholic named Danny Noonan (Michael O'Keefe) who works as a caddy at a country club tries to get a college scholarship from the owner, Judge Smails (Ted Knight), a pompous rich man who usually acts way in over his head. Meanwhile, one of Smails' companions, Ty Webb (Chevy Chase), shows Danny how to become the ball. Loudmouth Al Czervik (Rodney Dangerfield) bets money on shots Smails takes, and assistant greenskeeper Carl Spackler (Bill Murray) is encountered with a gopher (Mr. Gopher) and is starting a war to welcome him.
This comedy does have a few problems, such as a bunch of random things over and over, and characters who sometimes act stupid (and often funny), but this also one of the most enjoyable of its kind. At the time of this film's release, a lot of people hated this, now many consider it a classic.
