A 17-year-old penguin named Cody Maverick (Shia LaBeouf) from Shiverpool, Antarctica, who admires a pro surfer, "Big Z" (Jeff Bridges), goes to an island with a bunch of surfers, including Chicken Joe (Jon Heder), whom he befriends, along with a sleek penguin named Lani Aliikai (Zooey Deschanel) to become a great surfer, where he also meets Z himself.
Though little more than a feature-length surfing newscast, it manages to be enjoyable and funny, with great characteristics. Even documentaries are funny, especially the ones with Arnold, the little penguin who despises the big, rude penguin surfer, Tank Evans (Diedrich Bader).
